Commando effectively has zero crowd control by default which really sucks in a game that's almost entirely about dealing with crowds of enemies, and that wouldn't even feel that bad if he did good single target damage to take stuff out quickly, but he doesn't. If there's one thing I've learned from this, it's that Laser Glaive has spoiled me big time. The same problem applies to beefier enemies and bosses - either I focus on taking out the small guys but I can't keep up with how fast they're spawning, or I focus on the big guys and before I know it I have a horde of smaller enemies tearing me to bits that I can't hope to prune down in any reasonable amount of time. Normally my solution to a problem like that would just be to not worry about killing everything and run away, but as far as I can tell enemies have near infinite aggro range, so even if I do run away they're just going to catch up to me the next time I stop and I'll have an even bigger horde of enemies to deal with. Normally with Huntress I could take out a group of enemies and have a bit of a breather before more start to spawn, but with Commando I just can't do that. ![]() It feels like he takes forever to kill even the most basic enemies, so much so that he just can't keep up with the rate of enemy spawns, even right from the start. Now I'm not saying I was expecting no difference at all, but compared to Huntress.Commando feels insanely weak. Figured I'd go down the list and start with Commando. Money flows in faster than you need at higher stages, so just blast the bosses and pick up items here and there but never linger.I've been maining Huntress since I started playing, and now I'm at the point where the only challenges I have left are getting the couple of items that require Monsoon (and the stupid hermit crab thing) and unlocking the alt skills/skins for the other survivors. The difficulty definitely picks up around stage 14, so at this point you'll want to really start focusing on charging to the teleporter and melting the bosses. ![]() If it's a useful item then you're in pretty good shape to make a good run. If you reach the abyssal depths in short time you should be able to pick up the legendary for only about 1000 gold. Stay off the ground as much as possible to avoid getting killed by a random charging bull or imps. Progress quickly to teleporters and focus on finding fuel cells and anything that will add area damage (wisps, gasoline, ukulele). Usually from around 20-40ish feet away it just decimates bosses. Work on finding the ideal range form which to fire the Preon, so that it does the most damage. I like to keep running and use my R attack only on wisps while looking for cash canisters and locating the teleporter / any nearby chests.ĭo this to rush the first couple stages to ensure you pick up the Preon Accumulator. Always move forward (don't backpedal and kite enemies, it's very slow). My personal strategy is to play the first couple levels very fast. You may want to avoid stuff like turrets or Happiest Masks that could get the last hit in case it counts as a kill steal but by that point you should be doing so much more damage that you probably don't have to worry. You'll know it when you see it, by that point it'll probably spawn as a standard enemy. The Overloading Worm will probably pop up for you in the teens somewhere. It's the opposite with the chest in Abyssal Depths though, I find that later on I make money quickly enough that it's pretty quick to buy. I'd rather spend that time on the next stage or two getting guaranteed greens from the bosses and opening more chests. And it's especially demoralizing when you put in all of that work and then get something mediocre like Wake of Vultures, Happiest Mask, or Frost Relic. It just takes sooooo long to kill later on while enemies keep getting harder and harder. I do the guaranteed legendary on Siren's Call if it comes up early but unless I'm stupid OP from drops I skip it whenever it comes up afterwards. If you don't have many items unlocked yet it might be worthwhile unlocking more stuff first since some drops can really carry you through a run. When I had a choice for items I tried to go for crit, attack speed, on-hit effects, and additional AoE. Once I got close to 20 I just started bum-rushing the teleporter and ignored any Shrine of the Mountain. My strategy was to go through stages fairly quickly so that I could get to 20 before shit got too crazy. I got it playing on Drizzle spending roughly 5 minutes on each level.
